Preparation and antibacterial activity of antibacterial polystyrene of guanidine hydrochloride(50-01-1)

In the Haake torque rheometer, guanidine hydrochloride(50-01-1) and the diamine oligomer (PHMG) and the end of the epoxy group with the remote-type polystyrene (PS) melt reaction, with antibacterial properties of polystyrene(PS-PHMG). Infrared spectroscopy showed that the guanidinium oligomer was bonded to the PS molecular chain in the form of a chemical bond, and the antimicrobial polystyrene Bacillus and Staphylococcus aureus.

Experimental results show that the purified PS-PHMG does not have the dissolution of the guanidine oligomer, but it has obvious inhibitory activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The results showed that when the concentration of ω (PS-PHMG) was 0.2% (ie, ω (PHMG) = 0.069%), the inhibitory rate was 100% when compared with that of Escherichia coli. When ω (PS-PHMG ) = 0.1% (ie, ω (PHMG) = 0.035%), the inhibition rate of Staphylococcus aureus in 30 min can reach 100%, with good antibacterial quick effect, kill bacteria for less than 30 min.
