The addition of guanidine hydrochloride(cas 50-01-1) reduced the denaturation temperature of lysozyme

The thermal denaturation of solid lysozyme and the effect of different denaturants and concentration on the degeneration of lysozyme in aqueous solution were studied by differential scanning calorimetry.
The results showed that at the presence of solvent water and the addition of urea and guanidine hydrochloride(cas 50-01-1), the denaturation temperature and the denaturation enthalpy of the lysozyme decrease with the increase of the denaturant concentration, and the denaturation effect of guanidine hydrochloride is stronger than that of urea, which is due to the effect of guanidine hydrochloride And protein molecules in addition to the role of hydrogen bonds exist outside the electrostatic effect.
