Experimental study on the effect of sodium dodecyl sulfate(151-21-3) on plaque resistance

Sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS, 151-21-3) is often used as a detergent in toothpaste. The authors have demonstrated that SDS has a high affinity for hydroxyapatite (HA), and the binding of SDS to HA is used to interfere with the adsorption of HA on the protein, which affects the formation of the tooth surface. 

On the basis of this study, the effects of SDS(151-21-3) on dental plaque formation in artificial oral cavity were further observed by artificial oral model and scanning electron microscopy and isotope labeling liquid scintigraphy.
