Spectroscopic Studies on Soluble Porphyrin in Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate(151-21-3)

In this paper, the solubility of soluble tetrakis (4-carboxyphenyl) porphyrin (TCPP) in the presence of anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS, cas 151-21-3) micelles was studied by UV-Vis spectroscopy with sensitivity to microenvironment. 

The results show that there is a significant isochromatic point in the SDS micellar solution during the process of pH change from neutral to acidic, which is a typical two-component equilibrium, and its protonation peak absorption intensity gradually increases, indicating that TCPP has been protonated in the micelles, and when the pH value of the bulk phase increases to the strong base, the Soret band of the TCPP is shifted, the absorbance becomes smaller and the half-peak width becomes larger, which is the transition from the SDS(151-21-3) micelles. The results of the micellar surface show that the solubilization of the porphyrin ring in the micelles can be controlled by changing the pH of the bulk phase to achieve the transmembrane transfer of the porphyrin.
