Interaction of Rhodamine B with Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate(cas 151-21-3) Micelles

The interaction between rhodamine B and the anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS, cas 151-21-3) micelles and the effect of inorganic salts were studied by fluorescence spectroscopy.

The results show that rhodamine B can be used as a probe molecule to determine the critical micelle concentration of surfactant in aqueous solution. The interaction between the two can be expressed by the association constant Ka, and the Ka value in the system increases with the increase of the inorganic salt concentration, which indicates that the interaction between Rhodamine B and SDS(cas 151-21-3) micelles increases.
