RNA was extracted by guanidine hydrochloride(cas 50-01-1) method

The total RNA was extracted from the roots, stems, leaves and buds of Mikaania micrantha Kunth, Eupatorium adenophorum Spreng, Ambrosia artemisiifolia Linn, Eupatorium odoratum Linn, Iva xanthifolia Nutt, and the total RNA was extracted by guanidine hydrochloride(cas 50-01-1) method. The RNA samples were determined by ultraviolet spectrophotometer. The yield and purity of RNA samples were determined by agarose gel electrophoresis.

The results showed that the OD260nm /OD280nm values were 1.8 ~ 2.0 and the RNA yield was higher in the total RNA extracted by the new method. The 18S and 28S 2 rRNA bands appeared in the agarose gel electrophoresis, and the brightness of the 28S rRNA band about 2 times that of 18S. The use of modified guanidine hydrochloride method can be extracted from different plant tissue to high quality, good integrity of total RNA.
