The background electrolyte containing 0.02 mol.L-1 TRIS(cas 77-86-1)

OBJECTIVE: To enrich the amount of 2-ethylhexanoic acid in β-lactam antibiotics by capillary zone electrophoresis - indirect UV detection.

The background electrolyte is an aqueous solution (pH 8.1) containing 0.01 mol.L-1 sorbic acid and 0.02 mol.L-1 TRIS(cas 77-86-1); operating voltage: 30 kV; detection wavelength: 225 nm (indirect detection).

Results: 2-ethylhexanoate migrated to the cathode under strong electroosmotic flow. The probe ion is used as the leading ion, and the β-lactam antibiotic in the test solution is used as the terminal ion. The instantaneous isothermal electrophoresis system is constructed at the front end of the capillary to produce the self-accumulation effect of the sample and enrich the 2-ethylhexanoate. Significant broadening or deformation of the 2-ethylhexanoate zone during volume injection. The quantification limit of this method is about 2 μg.mL-1, which is equivalent to 0.01% of the amount of β-lactam antibiotics.

CONCLUSION: This method is suitable for the high sensitivity detection of trace amounts of 2-ethylhexanoic acid in several β-lactam antibiotics.
