A New Process for Synthesis of Fluorescent Brightener 4,4' - Bis (2 - Sodium p-styrenesulfonate(2695-37-6)) Biphenyl

The synthesis of 4,4'-bis (2-sodium p-styrenesulfonate(cas 2695-37-6)) was studied by two steps of biphenylbenzylbenzene (BCMB), triethyl phosphite (TEP) and sodium benzenesulfonate benzaldehyde (BDSS) sodium acetate) biphenyl (CBS-120). The influencing factors of the two - step reaction were investigated. The optimum synthesis conditions of 4,4'-diethoxyphosphorylmethylbiphenyl (BDPMD) were as follows: reaction temperature 160 ℃, n2 (TEP): n (BcMB) -2.5 ~ 2.8; CBS-120. The optimum synthesis process was as follows: 30% sodium methoxide solution as catalyst, reaction temperature 30 ~ 50 ℃, m (acetone): m (dimethyl sulfoxide) = 1.2 ~ 1.5, n (BDSS): n (BDPMD) = 2.4. The total yield of the reaction was 70%. The product was analyzed by fluorescence spectrophotometry to achieve the standard grade of CBS-120 standard. The process was simple and easy to operate.
