Preparation of Crosslinked Polystyrene Sodium p-styrenesulfonate(cas 2695-37-6) by Solution Polymerization

Crosslinked polystyrene was prepared by copolymerization of styrene(St), divinylbenzene(DVB) and sodium p-styrenesulfonate(cas 2695-37-6) with N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) as solvent and benzoyl peroxide(BPO) and the effects of the reaction conditions on the content of sodium p-styrenesulfonate(cas 2695-37-6) in the copolymer were studied by infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) and thermal analysis(DSC).

The results show that the content of sodium p-styrenesulfonate(cas 2695-37-6) in the copolymer is closest to the theoretical value when the polymerization time is 10 h at 90 ℃, and the results show that the glass transition temperature(112 ℃) of sulfonated polystyrene is higher than that of polystyrene(104 ℃), but the sulfonation degree was further increased, but no significant glass transition was observed. When the mole fraction of sodium p-styrenesulfonate(cas 2695-37-6) was found to be 7.81% in the copolymer, the conductivity The rate can reach 0.32 × 10-2S / cm, the molar fraction of sodium p-styrenesulfonate(cas 2695-37-6) continue to increase the impact on the copolymer conductivity is very small.
